Igor was born in Zagreb, Croatia in 1955. He began to paint at the age of ten in the studio of a neighbor and friend, painter Sergije Mihic. Discouraged by his parents from pursuing the difficult life of a professional artist, upon graduating from high school and moving to Toronto, Canada, Igor studied natural sciences, landscape architecture and planning while working in respective professions. All this time, he painted continuously and showed his work mainly at the Exploration House Galleries, Toronto and numerous group exhibitions. At he age of thirty three Igor became a professor of landscape architecture at Ryerson Polytechnical University in Toronto, which he left in order to finally devote himself to painting full time in 1993.
Today Igor lives and works in Toronto and Zagreb. His paintings are a part of numerous art collections worldwide. His passion for life and the search for meaning feed his every brushstroke. |
