John Brooke

Brooke lives and works in Bilgola on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia.
Not surprisingly, a lot of his work is about the colours of the sun, sky, water and the special light to be found in many places where land meets the sea. There is, however, another thread running though his art. It deals with the concern he feels for the impact of a changing society on individuals and the way people can easily become statistics to be manipulated and exploited by bureaucrats, politicians, corporations and the media. Like many artists, he doesn't believe he has many of the answers but he persists in asking the questions. |
