Olga Deulofeu, "The Dragonfly Lady", or the "Dot Lady" was born in Havana, Cuba on December 11, 1949. She came to the United States in 1992 on a humanitarian visa. At age 9, she wrote her first poem without ever having read one, and at 11 she wrote her first storybook. In her teens she started drawing some paintings in cardboard, but, since there were no materials available, she decided to concentrate on her writing, living aside playing with colored pencils. In 1999, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she bought some canvas, and, to her own surprise, started painting again. She never took painting lessons. |
